LOBBY ARTISTS

As an artist, I feel that in order to create an original and innovative style, one must constantly study and observe the modern masters of their art form. I have taken a particular interest in art history, whether it is Italian Renaissance or Post-Modernism. Our focus for this exhibition was to re-create the spirit of art-making in 1969, through the work of young and contemporary artists.

It was a revolutionary time, where artists were expressing themselves freely without the pragmatic influence from an art institution. Keeping this in mind, I have chosen works from a range of artistic discipline, which represent the eclectic times of the '60's. Some works are conceptual in nature, while others are politically controversial. Some are even immersive environments, which involve audience interaction. The result is a unified whole, comprised of various mediums. Our rosters of artists are trained in: painting, film, photography, collage, new media installation, and sculpture. Each local artist is either emerging or established and under the age of 30. Together, they are evidence of the amazing things that can come from the power of art.
