BIG ART for little minds

WORKSHOPS

Life finally gets to imitate art as BIG ART workshops open in 2011.  Have the freedom to express yourself, try new and exciting crafts, share your thoughts and ideas and create a community with people just like you. These workshops, found in select schools and community centres, are small snapshots into what our BIG ART Centres will be. All courses will last 12-15 weeks and end with performances and exhibitions in craft specific environments. Students, aged 5-15, will be surrounded by the proper tools and guidance to make arts a reality in their lives.  Most importantly, all classes will be led by youthful practicing artists who believe in the importance of positivity, equality, and unity and can relate to the current issues facing each student.  This level of compatibility will give students someone who ultimately can become that mentor they look up to, open creatively and strive to be as they begin their journey in the arts.

Why are these workshops so unique?

  1. Our most valuable asset comes from our educators.  We only hire some of the most promising and inspiring young Canadian artists.  This allows the bond between teacher and student to be stronger and allow children to look up to someone who they have an easier time relating with.
  2. Our courses are financially friendly.  A lot of families do not have the disposable income to send their children to a proper arts program.  We want everyone to have a fair chance at the arts and ultimately at finding themselves.  For a minimal fee, a child can experience a world that would normally not exist otherwise.
  3. The learning is not limited to just inside the workshops. All children will have the opportunity to display their creations during performances and exhibitions in craft specific environments.  This allows them to fully understand what it feels like to have their art part of the culture.
